New Investment Launches Truck Washing Facility in Support of Pet Food Industry Growth

On October 20, the Economic Development Corporation (EDC) of Wayne County Board announced support for a new family-owned venture, Milestone Trailer Wash, led by Richmond natives Joel and Greg Eberlein. The project brings new investment and infrastructure to Wayne County’s industrial landscape through a specialized truck cleaning facility designed to enhance the region’s logistics network and support the continued growth of its food manufacturing and pet food sectors.

The project includes construction of a 9,000-square-foot facility on 5.7 acres in the Midwest Industrial Park. Designed to meet FDA standards, the facility will provide comprehensive cleaning services for food-grade and refrigerated trailers, ensuring safety, sanitation, and compliance for companies operating within the region’s rapidly expanding pet food supply chain.

The development represents a $2.36 million investment and is expected to create six new jobs paying $20 per hour plus benefits. To assist with project costs, the EDC Board approved a $26,000 Economic Development Income Tax (EDIT) Grant and the sale of the 5.7-acre site, valued at $82,650.

For Joel and Greg Eberlein, the project represents both a business opportunity and a personal commitment to their community.

“We’re proud to invest right here at home,” said Greg Eberlein. “Richmond has always been a great place for business and for family, and this project allows us to contribute to both.”

Joel Eberlein added, “Our goal is to create something that supports local industry while keeping our values rooted in community and family. The EDC has been a great partner in helping us bring this vision to life.”

EDC President Valerie Shaffer said the project will strengthen the region’s industrial network.

“Milestone Trailer Wash fills a critical gap in our local infrastructure,” Shaffer said. “As our pet food and manufacturing sectors continue to grow, this project will play an important role in supporting their operations and maintaining supply chain efficiency. It also highlights the impact of local residents investing back into their own community.”

Construction is expected to begin in early 2026, with operations anticipated to launch by late 2026. Once complete, Milestone Trailer Wash will serve regional haulers, food processors, and manufacturers across east-central Indiana, enhancing both compliance and efficiency within Wayne County’s growing industrial ecosystem.
