The EDC of Wayne County is pleased to announce the addition of Rhonda Fisher as the new office manager for the organization. Fisher was the office manager at SmithFoods Richmond, topping off a career lasting nearly
30 years with the company. Most recently she was the office manager for Whitewater Valley Rehabilitation. Fisher brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the position and we’re happy to welcome her to the EDC of Wayne County team.
Fisher replaces Theresa Lindsey, who came to the EDC of Wayne County as office manager in 2019. Lindsey will move into the position of business and workforce development manager. Lindsey will focus on local expansion and retention projects and program and initiatives to strengthen and increase the competitiveness of Wayne County’s workforce.
Lindsey replaces Sarah Mitchell who will take the newly created position of economic development manager. Mitchell joined the EDC staff in 2018 as manager of existing business and education. Mitchell’s new position will focus on housing, downtown and industrial park development.
Renee Doty will retain her current role with the EDC of Wayne County, but her title will change to marketing and communications manager to reflect the work of her position more accurately. Doty will continue to provide communication for the organization and oversee marketing efforts. She joined the staff in 2002.
Valerie Shaffer’s title and role remain the same. Shaffer was chosen as president in 2012 after a year-long tenure with the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. Prior to that she worked at the EDC of Wayne County as vice president of business development. Shaffer oversees the direction of the organization, new investment projects, and initiatives to improve competitiveness at the county and regional level.
The expansion and realignment of staff enables the EDC of Wayne County to carry out the organization’s mission more fully and effectively. These changes are a result of the new Economic Development Strategic Plan for Wayne County. The strategic plan outlines the need for the EDC of Wayne County to maintain its current role of traditional economic development that includes existing business retention and expansion, new business attraction, and workforce development while also creating a new focus on talent recruitment and retention efforts by enhancing our community’s quality of life.
